Join me what will probably be a never-ending saga of grease, aching muscles, and an empty wallet as I work to restore this over 50 year old survivor to a reliable cruiser.

I’ve just acquired a new machine tool for the workshop – a Juki LU 563 walking foot sewing machine. Now the Imperial interior gets real! Why do I call this a machine tool? It is a fabrication tool, just like … Continue reading

Electrical 14: MeterMatch
Previous Electrical: Electrical 13: Relay That Window! Let’s take a break from Wrangling Rust and look at the dashboard. A common problem with older cars is inaccurate gauges. Perhaps the worst offender is the gas gauge, with many (most?) 1960’s … Continue reading

Electrical 11: Connections Evolved
After (finally!) getting the alternator and voltage regulator straightened out in Electrical 10: 2 Bad let’s look at some of the tools and techniques used. My approach to making electrical connections has evolved significantly. This will be familiar to many … Continue reading

This Sucks
Previous article: Aligned Inspection. In an earlier article I claimed that the vacuum powered push/pull actuators for the heater air doors were working. This proved to be a bit optimistic… There was some movement from some of the actuators but … Continue reading
